Partner with line managers on recruitment, employee relations and HR administration to support a safe, fair and engaged workforce.

About the role

Our people are the reason our fruit reaches customers on time and in perfect condition. The HR Practitioner is a trusted advisor to managers and employees, covering the full employee lifecycle across permanent and seasonal teams.

You will manage recruitment, onboarding and day-to-day employee relations, making sure we apply labour legislation and company policy consistently and fairly. You will also support payroll inputs, leave and performance processes.

This is a varied role for someone who is organised, discreet, and comfortable talking with everyone from general workers to senior managers.

Responsibilities

Manage end-to-end recruitment including adverts, shortlisting, interviews and offers.
Coordinate onboarding and induction for new employees.
Advise managers on disciplinary, grievance and incapacity processes and chair or support hearings.
Maintain accurate employee records, contracts and leave in the HR system.
Prepare payroll inputs such as overtime, leave, new starters and terminations.
Ensure compliance with the Labour Relations Act, BCEA, Employment Equity Act and OHS Act.
Support the performance management cycle and training administration.
Assist with CCMA matters and prepare documentation for case referrals.
Compile HR reports and metrics such as turnover, absenteeism and headcount.

Required

  • Degree or diploma in Human Resource Management, Industrial Psychology or Labour Relations
  • Three years of generalist HR experience
  • Working knowledge of the Labour Relations Act, BCEA and Employment Equity Act
  • Disciplinary and grievance procedures including chairing or supporting hearings
  • Recruitment, interviewing and onboarding
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and an HRIS or payroll system

Preferred

  • CCMA representation or conciliation experience
  • HR experience in agriculture, manufacturing or a seasonal workforce
  • Ability to communicate in Afrikaans and English
