Design, maintain and improve the mechanical systems behind our packhouses and cold chain, from conveyors and sorters to refrigeration plant.
About the role
Our packhouses and cold stores run on complex mechanical systems that must perform reliably under seasonal peak loads. As Mechanical Engineer you will own the engineering health of this equipment, balancing reliability, safety, energy efficiency and cost.
You will work closely with maintenance planners, artisans, production managers and external contractors. You will lead root cause investigations, specify and commission new equipment and drive continuous improvement projects that reduce downtime and energy use.
This role suits a registered or candidate engineer who enjoys time on the plant floor as much as at a desk.
Responsibilities
Provide engineering support for packhouse lines, conveyors, graders, packing equipment and utilities.
Lead root cause analysis on breakdowns and recommend permanent corrective actions.
Develop and review preventative maintenance strategies with the maintenance planning team.
Specify, tender for and commission new plant and equipment, including project management of installations.
Support refrigeration, compressed air, boilers and pump systems, with a focus on energy efficiency.
Prepare engineering drawings, specifications and technical reports.
Ensure all work meets OHS Act, pressure equipment and company safety standards.
Track and report on equipment KPIs such as downtime, MTBF and maintenance cost.
Manage contractors and review their work for quality and compliance.
