Run a packing line in Packhouse 2 for the season, delivering safe, high-quality, on-time production with a motivated team.

About the role

Packhouse 2 is at the heart of our fruit packing operation. As Line Manager you are responsible for one or more packing lines, from fruit intake through grading, packing and palletising, and for the people who run them.

You will plan each shift, hit daily production targets, keep quality and food safety on track and make sure everyone goes home safely. You will coach team leaders, resolve line problems fast and work closely with quality control, maintenance and cold stores.

Responsibilities

Plan and run packing lines to meet daily and weekly production schedules.
Lead team leaders and line workers, including seasonal teams, and manage attendance and performance.
Ensure packed fruit meets customer specifications and quality standards.
Maintain food safety, hygiene and traceability records in line with HACCP and audit requirements.
Monitor line efficiency, throughput, giveaway and packaging usage, and act on variances.
Coordinate with maintenance to minimise downtime and with cold stores for dispatch.
Enforce health and safety rules and investigate incidents and near misses.
Handle discipline, grievances and shift handovers in line with company policy.
Report on shift performance and drive continuous improvement.

Required

  • Matric certificate; diploma in Production or Operations Management preferred
  • Three years of experience supervising a production or packing line
  • Experience leading teams of 20 or more people
  • Production planning, line efficiency and throughput management
  • Quality control, food safety and HACCP awareness
  • Labour relations, discipline and conflict resolution
  • Willingness to work shifts, weekends and overtime during the season

Preferred

  • Experience in a fruit packhouse or fresh produce packing environment
  • Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience
  • Proficiency in Excel and production reporting
  • Valid driver's licence
